Bat Exclusion, Done to Code

One-way exclusion devices, sealed entry points, and full guano remediation — following Louisiana wildlife regulations to the letter.

Why It Matters

Bats belong outside. Not in your attic.

Louisiana is home to a dozen bat species — they are vital predators of mosquitoes and moths, but when a colony moves into an attic or soffit, the guano stains ceilings, corrodes wood, and can carry histoplasmosis spores. Because bats are protected during maternity season (May–August), exclusion has to be done carefully, at the right time, in the right way.

Our Exclusion Process

  • Full attic and roofline inspection to locate every entry point
  • Install one-way exclusion valves at active entries
  • Seal secondary gaps with metal cloth and polyurethane sealant
  • Confirm the colony has evacuated (typically 3–7 days)
  • Permanent sealing of primary entries once bat-free
  • Guano removal, and deep sanitation where nescissary
  • Written 5 year warranty on all sealed exclusions

Signs You Have Bats

  • Dark greasy stains around attic vents or eaves
  • Small pellet-shaped droppings under overhangs
  • Squeaking or scratching at dusk and dawn
  • Ammonia-like smell from ceilings or walls
  • Bats seen exiting the house at sunset
